February 01, 2011

HE Fatima Obeid Al Jaber, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council (ADBWC) Executive Board (EB) and Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI), met with a Malaysian businesswomen’s delegation from the Association of Bumiputera Women in Business and Professionals (PENIAGAWATI) led by HE Dato’ Hazimah Binti Zainuddin, President of PENIAGAWATI.

In the course of the meeting attended by HE Azza Al Qubaissi, ADBWC EB Deputy Chairperson, along with a number of the EB members, investment potential and opportunities available in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia for the two sides’ businesswomen and investors were discussed. Mrs. Al Jaber stressed the importance of joint co-operation, streamlining ways of collaboration between the two countries, enhancing Malaysian companies’ investments in the UAE markets, as well as of utilizing what future projects and plans in the UAE would provide, including substantial opportunities and assets in a number of vital sectors and key areas. Similarly, she pointed out the superior support and care the ADBWC is receiving from HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, ADBWC Honorary Chairperson.
For her own part, the Head of the Malaysian Businesswomen Delegation Mrs. Zainuddin said: “Malaysian companies and businesses are striving to increase the presence of their products and services in the UAE markets,” urging Emirati companies to invest in Malaysia.
“Malaysian markets are deemed to be promising ones where opportunities exist in all sectors and fields,” she noted, expressing their willingness to provide back-up and support to all UAE companies, businessmen and investors desirous of making investment in Malaysia, as well as to boost their presence in establishing their presence in Malaysia’s markets and to avail themselves of existing massive natural potential.
During the meeting, an introduction was given on both the ADBWC and services being rendered by the ADCCI to businesspeople and investors. Also addressed were potential aspects for co-operation between Abu Dhabi-based businesswomen and their Malaysian counterparts, together with possible setting up of trade partnerships between businesswomen in both countries in a manner that would achieve economic development in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia.
It is worthwhile that figures of trade exchange’s turnover between the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Malaysia have markedly gone up during 2009 as the volume of terms of trade between the two countries hit 774 million dirhams, something which reflects the active movement and efforts being exerted by companies and businesses operating in either country for purposes of reinforcing their mutual commercial and economic co-operation.
